Graveyard Keeper 2 Update 1.009 Patch Notes

Official PC 1.009 fixes save-loading crashes, stuck zombie workers, collision softlocks, inventory issues, perks and sermon progression.

What changed in 1.009

The official PC changelog focuses on stability and stuck-state fixes rather than new content. Console timing is not stated in the announcement, so the notes below should not be treated as a console version number.

Crashes and frozen states

  • Fixed a crash that could occur while loading a save.
  • Fixed error pop-ups when a gardener zombie tried to harvest a crop that had already disappeared.
  • Fixed a freeze when assigning a zombie after the station's previous worker was no longer valid.
  • Fixed the player or HUD remaining locked after returning to the menu or starting a new game.
  • Fixed the day rollover edge case that could make the quest UI jump after a sermon.

Collisions and softlocks

The patch cleans up collisions around conveyor storage, the crematorium, the Resurrection Table, and garden and vineyard assistant stations. It also fixes the nun-base upgrade trap, the locked tower gate interaction point, and sawhorse drops landing in the wrong place.

If you are still stuck at one of those locations, first confirm the version shown by your PC client. The troubleshooting guide separates 1.009-fixed issues from progression checks that can still block an interaction.

Zombie and station fixes

  • Caretakers can be picked up or inspected while away from their station.
  • Quarry caretakers no longer get stuck on quarry objects.
  • Sawmill, mine, clay-pit and sand-pit workers can begin the next job after returning an output.
  • Gardeners return to their station after a broken harvest; repeatedly failing crops are left for the player.

These fixes remove several genuine failure cases, but a worker can still wait normally for tools, mastery, inputs, storage space, or a route. Use the zombie worker checklist before rebuilding a station.

Inventory, perks and progression

  • Fishing now finds bait stored inside bags.
  • Gamepad navigation no longer skips storage inventories when a bag is open.
  • Son of a Butcher now applies to organ surgery and pocket extraction.
  • The expired pre-order Sauna buff no longer permanently reduces food energy restoration; existing saves are corrected.
  • The tier-2 kitchen oven remains hidden until repaired.
  • Grape juice and wine start the correct Study Table survey.
  • Craft tooltips stop listing an extension that is already attached.
  • The sermon ending sequence was corrected.

Planned changes are not part of 1.009

The developer's October 2 roadmap separately mentions movable workstations, higher sermon Faith, expanded zombie-helper behavior and a reworked Panic Reduction system. Those are described as future work, not 1.009 features. This distinction matters for older tips such as “workstations cannot be moved”: that remains the practical rule for PC 1.009 until a later changelog says otherwise.
