Graveyard Keeper 2 Stuck? Common Fixes

Fix the most common Graveyard Keeper 2 blockers: burial certificate turn-in, graves that won't complete, recipes you can't craft, and the seeds quest.

The 30-second check

Before grinding for anything, run through this:

  • Open the Story Tree and read the full current objective — it usually names the person, place, quantity and prerequisite action together.
  • For crafting, check technology, workstation, ingredients and fuel together, not one at a time.
  • If your maximum energy dropped, sleep and deal with insanity before gathering more.

Common symptoms and fixes

| I'm stuck because… | Check this first | Why | |---|---|---| | I don't know what to do next | The Story Tree | Tasks sit in story branches; finishing visible objectives reveals new nodes to the right. | | I can't turn in the first Burial Certificate | Herbert at the Crossroads | The first explicit objective is Herbert, head of the guards. Afterwards, visit the Head of the Village in the Village Tavern to collect the money and ask about fairies — if he is absent, the objective tells you to ask Januarius to call him. | | The grave won't complete | The graveyard blueprint desk | The order is: mark the grave, dig with the shovel, place the remains, bury them, then add a sign. Skipping one step leaves the loop open. | | My maximum energy fell | Sleep and insanity | Food and potions refill energy, but sleeping restores it and likely reduces insanity. Insanity lowers your maximum energy, and working exhausted raises it faster. | | I see a recipe but can't craft it | Both technology and workstation | Most items need the matching tech unlocked and the correct station. Check the tech tree and the recipe page side by side. | | Not enough tech points | Do the matching activity | Normal actions earn points; studying new items at the Study Table can award them too. Red covers hand-crafting and materials, green covers nature, and the first blue point comes from the Study Table in the Church basement. | | Buying seeds didn't advance the quest | Plant them | Herm's objective asks for 16–20 Wheat Seeds to be bought and grown in your garden. Keeping them in your bag — or pressing them into oil — does not count. | | Can't find a fishing spot | Recover the rod from the twins | The twins live south of the Village, across the bridge in Twins' Land. Two spots are named: left of the house at the Inquisition Base, and beside the road to the Village. Bring the catch to Herm. | | Graveyard rating isn't rising | Corpse skulls, then grave furniture | White-skull rating rises mainly through grave decoration with white-wreath value. Red-skull lines never score, but must be filled before later white-skull lines count. See graveyard rating. | | Wood or bronze keeps blocking construction | Process only the next batch | One Log becomes four Boards or two Short Logs; one Bronze Scrap makes one Bronze Nail directly. Check the next workstation's inputs before converting everything into the wrong intermediate. |

Known demo-save issue

Community reports say that after transferring a demo save, a corpse placed in the crematorium does not start burning and cannot be taken back. If that matches your situation, this is a transferred-save defect rather than something you missed.

Still blocked after all this? Re-read the current quest objective word by word — the answer is usually a named NPC you have not spoken to yet.
