Graveyard Keeper 2 Zombie Mine Guide

How to unlock and run the zombie mine in Graveyard Keeper 2: the reported path gate, the miner and porter station pair, costs, and coal and ore output.

Unlocking: the reported path gate

Before assigning anyone, clear at least one blockage on the route between the mine and your house. Two players independently report that the zombie-mining technology appears on the tech tree only after that route is open — one cleared the blockage next to the Supply Storage (enter the writing basement; the block on the right), another points to the path north of the mine. If your tree shows nothing, treat it as this reported gate rather than a missing feature, and re-check the tree after clearing. This gate is player-reported, so verify it in your own build.

The station pair

Player routes agree that zombie mining needs two stations, not just the mine interaction: a miner to dig and a porter to haul. Both live in the Zombie Mine zone.

| Building | Zone | Cost | Role | |---|---|---|---| | Zombie Miner | Zombie Mine | 2 Wooden Plank + 4 Brick | Produces ore, coal, gems | | Porter Station | Zombie Mine | 2 Wooden Plank + 4 Brick | Hauls output to storage | | Simple Chest | Zombie Mine | 4 Wooden Plank + 4 Bronze Nails | Storage | | Chest | Zombie Mine | 4 Oiled Plank + 2 Wooden Beam + 6 Iron Nails | Storage | | Large Chest | Zombie Mine | 2 Oiled Beam + 6 Carved Wood + 8 Steel Screws | Storage |

The miner produces 1 Iron Ore + 2 Coal + 1 Gem per 8-tick batch. Iron ore then feeds the ingot recipes (1 Iron Ore + 1 Coal → 1 Iron Ingot, or 3 Iron Ore + 30 Fuel → 3 Iron Ingots), which feed nails, iron details and steel goods.

Assignment checklist

  1. Assign through the mine's own interaction. Carrying or dropping a zombie nearby does not give it the job.
  2. Confirm both stations exist — miner and porter — before debugging the worker.
  3. Tool: mining is associated with a pickaxe. Use the tier the live UI requests rather than assuming a value from the first game.
  4. Delivery path: zombies need a walkable route to the factory or storage point to deliver. A cleared mine with no route back to base still produces nothing.
  5. Watch one full cycle with a single test worker before scaling up.

If the mine is not working

  • No assignment option: clear the mine–house route first, then re-check construction state and quest progression.
  • Zombie takes the job but idles: re-check mastery, tool tier or durability, and the delivery path to storage.
  • Animation plays but nothing arrives: inspect the output chest and the porter side of the pair.
  • Production stops later: clear full output storage, confirm the tool is still usable, and check whether the worker was reassigned. Update 1.006 fixed zombie red tech-point rewards and some work audio and collision cases, but published no zombie-mine production changes.

For the workers themselves see the zombie workers guide, and for hand-mining nodes and the other digging zones see the mining guide.
